This year, Take a Different Approach to Family Holiday Cards

It’s that time of year. You know … holiday card time. The time of year where we reconnect and update family and friends on what’s been going on with our lives over the past year; to share a piece of ourselves with those we care about most. It’s the perfect opportunity to connect with those we love. To show the fabric of what makes our lives whole. It’s the time to embrace and celebrate what lights up our souls.

What if the photos featured on your holiday cards did that? What if this year, your holiday cards brought back memories of tree decorating, snowman building, family game nights, and bedtime snuggles? How wonderful would it be to look back at the photos on your card and remember how warm and sweet your house smelled or the look of your son’s mischievous grin, covered in cookie crumbs from sneaking cookies during your annual baking marathon? Or the sound of your mom’s laughter as she plays Candy Land for the 100th time with your children?

What if we exchanged the stress of choosing outfits, wrangling kids, or bribery ( it’s a solid parenting strategy) to get ‘good’ photos of your family for photos of them being unapologetically themselves, and celebrating that?

Think about how freeing that could be. This year I challenge you to do that, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Holiday Card Ideas

Here are some examples of holiday cards from people who decided to trade traditional, posed holiday card photos for those that celebrated their family as they are and are filled with story, and meaning.
